Logstor acquires Star Pipe, a leading Danish district heating company

Logstor is pleased to announce the acquisition of the net assets
and sales activities of Star Pipe A/S in Fredericia. The
acquisition strengthens Logstor’s market presence and position in
Denmark as well as in the entire Nordic region.
Logstor, the world’s leading manufacturer of pre-insulated pipes, strengthens its activities in the Nordic region, one of the world’s furthest developed regions for the use of district heating and district cooling. Significant investments continues to be made in the Nordic countries as clients expand and upgrade their district heating and district cooling networks.
The ongoing climate debate has put the need for energy efficient and CO2 friendly solutions high on the world’s agenda. In particular, the EU climate agreements have highlighted the use of district heating and cooling as being one of the most important solutions to achieve the EU 2020 CO2 reduction objectives. District heating and cooling is typically 50% more energy efficient than traditional heating and cooling and as such significantly reduce CO2 emissions as well as decrease the dependency on Oil & Gas.
Star Pipe has manufactured pre-insulated pipes in its Fredericia factory since 1974 and has built many long-standing customer relationships over the last 35 years. In addition to its leading position in district heating in Denmark, Star Pipe exports to a number of countries of which Sweden and Norway represent its largest foreign markets.
Through the combination of Star Pipe and Logstor, Star Pipe’s customers will obtain access to high-quality pre-insulated pipes and knowhow from Logstor.
“With the acquisition of Star Pipe we want to ensure the Danish customers continuity in quality and deliveries from a production company based in Denmark” says Preben Tolstrup, CEO of Logstor.
In the future Logstor will produce from its own factories, but will take over a number of selected key employees who will continue to provide services to Star Pipe’s customers.
Preben Tolstrup continues “In connection with the acquisition, Logstor wants to utilize Star Pipe’s assembly of machinery for our ongoing international expansion both in and outside Europe“.
