Logstor acquires Stizo Termo, a leading district heating company in Romania

London|01 March 2009

Logstor continues its international growth strategy by taking over the production and sales activities of Stizo Termo SA in Bucharest. The acquisition strengthens Logstor's market presence and position in Romania as well as in the entire Balkan region.

Logstor, the world's leading manufacturer of pre-insulated pipes expands its activities in the Balkans with the purpose of positioning itself for the infrastructural upgrades that need to be taken within the areas of district heating and cooling, when the new EU member countries are to adapt to the newly adopted EU climate objectives.

The ongoing climate debate has put the need for energy efficient and CO2 friendly solutions high on the world's agenda. In particular, the EU climate agreements have highlighted the use of district heating and cooling as being one of the most important solutions to achieve the EU 2020 objectives.

Logstor will acquire the major part of Stizo Termo's activities and as of 1 March 2009 continue the operations under its subsidiary Logstor S.R.L. with the aim to support the growth in energy efficient solutions in the entire Balkan region. The central location of the factory in Bucharest makes it ideal for developing the business further, as transportation and logistics is playing an important role when it comes to handling the bulky and often very heavy products.

Claus Brun, Senior Vice President, Sales Central and Eastern Europe said "by making this acquisition we will be strengthening our position in this important growth area. Together with the former Stizo Termo employees we will strive to continue the good relations to existing customers but also to significantly increase the number of new customers".

"I am pleased to sell the activities of Stizo Termo to a company such as Logstor. Logstor is in a position to develop our activities within pre-insulated pipe systems to a much higher level than we would have been ourselves. The employees welcome the decision and have great expectations of this cooperation" says Dan Nicolae Ene, principal shareholder in Stizo SA, owner of Stizo Termo SA.

"The expansion in the Balkans is an obvious step in the realization of Logstor's growth strategy. By acquiring Stizo Termo we have secured a bridgehead in the Balkan market. I expect great things from the prospect of Logstor becoming more visible and accessible also in this part of Europe" says Preben Tolstrup CEO, Logstor.
